The Blake Center is located within short driving distance of several historical sites of consequence to Edwards’ life and ministry. Edwards preached his famous sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” just 5 minutes away. During thisfour-day retreat you will have the opportunity to learn about the life and contributions of America’s most influential theologian and take in the natural beauty and rich history of New England.
· Day 1 – Blake Center – Lectures on Edwards early life and writings
· Day 2 – Field Trips to Enfield and Northampton– Site visits by chartered bus accompanied by talks on Edwards’ sermons and their impact on First Great Awakening
· Day 3 – Field Trip to the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale – Site visit and discussions of Edwards writings and influence in New England
· Day 4 – Blake Center – Concluding lectures drawing together the site visits with sketches of Edwards’ enduring contributions to the theological enterprise and the church
